Anticancer Efficacy of Ajwa Date Extract

Scientific Research and Clinical Studies with Ajwa Date

In recent years, many researches have been done on Acve dates and scientific articles have been published. In these studies, the protective effect of Ajwa date against cancer, which is one of the most common diseases of our century, has been determined. Thanks to the flavonoid glycosides in its content, it shows antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, the sugar it contains is only monosaccharides and has shown positive results in Type 2 diabetes patients.

We will share one of these articles and links to other clinical studies here.

In Vivo Evaluation of Anti-Diabetic, Hypolipidemic, Antioxidative Activities of Acve Date Seed Extract on Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats

Introduction:  Phoenix dactylifera (date) is the main fruit of the gulf region. In folk medicine; Dates are traditionally used. Date seeds are used for hypoglycemic, expectorant, tonic, aphrodisiac, antidiarrheal and oral hygiene.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the anti-diabetic, hypolipidemic and antioxidative activities of date palm seed extract in rats induced by diabetes.

Results:  Aqueous seed extract at a concentration of 100 gm/L at a dosage of 10 ml/day/rat produces a significant reduction in blood glucose levels in diabetic rats compared to control rats. There were significant differences in clinical chemistry and oxidative stress parameters investigated between the seed extract of both Ajwa and Sukkari palm and control and diabetic rats.

Conclusion:  This study confirms the antidiabetic property of aqueous seed extracts of two different date palm cultivars, Ajwa and Sukkari, on streptozotocin-induced Diabetic rats. Long-term treatments with the extract restore liver and kidney function and stabilize the oxidative stress state in diabetic-treated rats.
